Red Rooster's Gallery
Welcome
Welcome to my personal collection of photographs taken on some of my rail related trips around the world.

This site mainly charts my trips to the USA and hopefully gives you a feel for the 'modern' railroad scene in several of the northern states.

I've recently started to include other collections of photos taken during my working life at GB Railfreight or whilst out with members of the IPRM

    GB Railfreight - De-icing 2009
    19th Aug 2008France - Paris
The IPRM took Eurostar from the newly opened Ebbsfleet station to Paris for a day trip on 19th August. The purpose of the trip was to re-visit the six main stations, which some of us last visited back in 1996! No time for playing the tourist on this trip, it was purely for the trains..

    Belgium - Antwerp
A group of work colleagues visited Antwerp for the weekend - as part of a 'team building' exercise. A fine selection of bars and restaurants were chosen from the 1000's available!!
However too many pictures of drunks don't make interesting viewing, so here is a selection of the transport oriented photos instead...

    GB Railfreight - De-icing 2008
The Network Rail de-icing trains operated by GB Railfreight were called out again in early April due to predicted low temperatures and snow forecasts across Kent & Sussex.
Over three nights I toured large chunks of Sussex, visiting the delights of Sutton, Dorking, Horsham, East Croydon, Haywards Heath, Lewes, Littlehampton, Eastbourne, Brighton & Hastings.

Branch lines were also covered and included :- Tattenham Corner, Epsom Downs, Caterham and East Grinstead.

On Monday morning we were called to assist a failed 377 EMU at Collington (between Eastbourne & Hastings). Due to engineering work this line had been closed all weekend and the whole route was covered in ice - the Electrostar didn't stand a chance !!

The EMU required the fitment of an specially designed emergency coupling before the unit could be moved to St Leonards.

The GBRf 'B-Team' were then called in to 'sweep' the line between Hastings & Eastbourne with another De-icing GLV before passenger services were allowed to commence.

    IPRM 2008 Spring Beano
The International Playboys of Railway Modeling (IPRM) flew out to Frankfurt for their Spring Beano in late March.

The Friday was spent at the ‘Faszination Modellbau’ – a large model show including a large display of model railways, planes & radio controlled vehicles. The following day visited the Auto & Tecknik museum also in Sinsheim. The highlight being the able to climb inside an Air-France Concorde & the Russian Tupolev TU-144.

An excellent weekend break had by all....
